Make it happen Julian Ward, it's time for amazing star's Liverpool return

We hope Julian Ward is listening because it couldn't be clearer that one star should make his Liverpool return. Now's that time.

Liverpool's full-back options aren't as strong as they could be. Things seem a long, long way from having Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson in the roles - the pair were unquestionably the best pairing and arguably the best individuals in their respective positions.

Now? Liverpool aren't sure about their future in either role and even less certain about their present. Milos Kerkez hasn't nailed down the left-back role but faces little competition form Kostas Tsimikas, a player the club tried to move on last year.

Things are even more confusing at right-back. Conor Bradley is the first-choice but injuries have always derailed him. His most recent issue is a very bad one and no one is entirely sure what he'll be like on his return.

Jeremie Frimpong is supposed to be his backup but is he actually a right-back? Andoni Iraola doesn't appear to think so and neither did Arne Slot by the end. Ronald Araujo is now first-choice but he's only on loan and is actually a centre-back.

In other words, Liverpool could use someone new. In both roles.

Neco Williams must return

Liverpool don't need a left-back and a right-back. They do have decent options in both positions, after all, and what would actually be great is someone who can play both.

Neco Williams. The Welshman left Liverpool a few years ago as his opportunities were limited behind Alexander-Arnold and Robertson. That would no longer be the case and few could argue against him being superior to the options the Reds boast in both positions.

That was underpinned on Thursday evening as Williams scored a wonderful free-kick for his country. He's blossomed into an all-action full-back and one that feels right on the verge of exploding to the elite level.

The fact he's also homegrown is simply another fantastic box checked. Williams knows the club, is homegrown, plays multiple positions and is proven at the top level.

It's essentially all the reasons Liverpool should re-sign Jarell Quansah. It's the right player at the right time and while Nottingham Forest wouldn't let Williams go easily, the Reds have got to try here.

He's exactly what they're looking for and would significantly boost this squad in ways few could. Julian Ward, this is one to push for.
