Liverpool can bring £16m sensation home now
Liverpool still have a lot of work to do on their team this summer.
They may have spent an obscene amount of money during the 2025-26 season but, with how poorly they performed, some new faces are definitely needed.
Victor Munoz has been the Reds' first signing and, although he's a natural left-winger, he's likely to be used on the right due to the severe lack of depth that they have on that side of their attack.
Indeed, Federico Chiesa could be used there but, if he does end up exiting, there will be even less options for Andoni Iraola to choose from.
However, it's not just the Reds' attack what needs strengthening as, other areas of their squad could also do with a a new face or two being brought in.
Liverpool shouldn't sign Djed Spence when Neco Williams could be available
Anfield Watch revealed that Liverpool are monitoring a potential move for Djed Spence this summer as they've been keeping an eye on him since 2023 when he was on loan to Rennes.
The Englishman has been in decent form during the 2026 World Cup and, with the amount of money that Tottenham have already spent, it certainly feels like they could end up selling one or two of their players this summer.
And, since Pedro Porro has just signed a contract extension and Micky van de Ven can be used as a left-back and looks set to stay, Spence could be the player on the chopping block.
Also, the fact that Tottenham have made an enquiry about Neco Williams proves that they're still on the lookout for new defenders.
But, if Nottingham Forest are willing to sell Williams this summer, there's literally no reason why they should be trying to sign Spence rather than the Welshman.
Williams can play in more positions then Spence and, since he'd be homegrown at the club, he'd be much more use to Liverpool than his fellow countryman.
Each of them are also likely to cost a similar amount to one another so, money wouldn't even be that much of an issue.
Neco Williams would help add some much needed defensive stability to Liverpool's back line
Even though Liverpool only moved Williams on back in 2022 for £16 million, it feels like now is an ideal time for him to return to his boyhood club.
During his last stint at Anfield, the Welshman was the back-up to Trent Alexander-Arnold and, while both of them were fairly solid players, Alexander-Arnold just about got the nod over him.
Defensively, there's no competition between the two as Williams is a much better defender than his former teammate but, in attack, Alexander-Arnold is the obvious choice.
However, now that Liverpool only have two centre-backs over the age of 21 in their ranks, they need to add some more experience to their squad and ensure that they're defensively sound.
If Andoni Iraola wants to add more attack, he can use Jeremie Frimpong and, for the perfect all-rounder, Conor Bradley is there.
But, due to his injury history he's hardly reliable which is why fans are wanting to see a new full-back welcomed through the Anfield doors.
At 25 years old, Williams is still rather young but, since he now has 142 Premier League appearances under his belt, he's more than qualified to become a regular starter at Anfield.
Which, looking at the Reds' form last term, is exactly what they need to add to their ranks.
