Liverpool should jump at the chance to sign Gabriel Jesus says ex-Red

Liverpool are set for big changes this summer, with Jurgen Klopp and a plethora of his backroom team set to depart the club.

Incoming sporting director Richard Hughes and newly appointed FSG CEO of Football Michael Edwards will have plenty to sort out, not least the futures of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold

That high-profile trio is under contract until 2025 with considerable question marks over their long-term prospects at Anfield.

However, there is uncertainty surrounding some of Liverpool’s other star names with forwards Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz both linked with big-money exits this summer.

With the Reds preparing an overhaul in the goalkeeping department, there could also be profound changes up front with plenty of names linked with a move to Merseyside.

Mohamed Amoura, Omar Marmoush, Yuito Suzuki and Mohammed Kudus are some of the forward players mooted for a Liverpool move as the Reds plot a renewal of their squad.

Gabriel Jesus having a difficult season

One player they SHOULD be targeting is Gabriel Jesus, according to the former Liverpool defender Glen Johnson.

The Arsenal forward has endured a difficult season from a personal standpoint, struggling with form and fitness and has only managed four goals in 26 Premier League matches.

The 27-year-old has lost his place in the team to Kai Havertz and has been mentioned as a possible departure for the Gunners this summer as they eye big moves of their own.

A player who won FOUR Premier League titles under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, the Brazil international is a performer who can add something different to the Liverpool ranks according to Johnson.

Liverpool should 'jump at the chance' to sign Gabriel Jesus

He also urged another one of his former clubs, Chelsea, to spring for the striker should he be made available, although the recent uptick in the form of Nicolas Jackson may well mean the Blues don’t move for a new frontman.

“I would be surprised if Arsenal do actually want to sell him because I think that would be crazy,” he told Betfred

“If he does become available, either Chelsea or Liverpool should bite their arm off. He’s not going to get you 25 goals a season, but he’s going to be a big part of the team and he works his socks off.

“In front of goal, he’s going to score a lot of goals at a club like that where he’ll get a lot of opportunities. If Arsenal do let him go, then they should absolutely jump at the chance.”
