Liverpool AGREE to re-open talks with ex-Everton star
Occasionally, clubs will find talks with a player fail to work because they're happening at the wrong time, and the best teams will not let that get in the way of securing the player they want.
It might just be a minor thing whereby the specific conditions for a move are not quite right, whether it be something with the player, the parent club or the interested buyer.

However, if you are rejected, then that should not mean that you completely forget about the player - you assess them moving forward and if another opportunity presents itself, then you look at its merits and don't let your past experiences get in the way.

In the case of Atalanta's Ademola Lookman, Liverpool will need to be very careful to not let any prejudices impact their interest in the player ahead of a potential move.
Liverpool re-visit their interest in former Everton forward
Lookman has had a remarkable career so far.
For three seasons early on in his career, he was an Evertonian, who generally flopped during his time on Merseyside - delivering four goals and three assists in 44 appearances.
However, he then went on to join Leipzig for £15.9m where he spent two seasons on loan at Fulham and Leicester, before eventually joining Atalanta where we can find him today.
The last three years he has spent in Italy have been symbolic of a remarkable turnaround in the Nigerian's career, with 71 goal contributions in 115 games, helping his team qualify for the Europa League and subsequently the Champions League after winning UEFA's second tier competition last season.
According to Caught Offside, Liverpool are one of the clubs interested in a move for him, alongside Barcelona, Juventus, Chelsea, Manchester United, Newcastle and Arsenal.
This latest report represents a re-sparked interest in Lookman after Anfield Watch revealed earlier this season that he would be interested in a move to Anfield this summer.
A fee for the player would likely sit in the region of €45m, which is a more than feasible figure, but the greater issue with getting fans on board with the potential transfer will be his history.
Liverpool know he is a former Everton player and attempts to sign him previously might've been put off by outside noise. The 27-year-old would be a fine addition to Arne Slot's squad.
But furthermore, his own manager - Gian Piero Gasperini - was quoted criticising Lookman earlier this season after a penalty miss in the Champions League, yet further reason to suggest that the Nigerian is not a very good player, when in fact the opposite is true.

Fighting to sign the forward will not be straightforward. Atalanta and the other interested parties will fight tooth and nail for him, but Liverpool's executives and the fans should be well aware of the qualities the player possesses, and if a deal is on the cards, then don't think twice about saying yes.
