Liverpool have been enchanted by Yan Diomande.

The 19-year-old Ivorian has been on the Reds’ radar ever since his move to RB Leipzig last summer. Diomande joined the Red Bulls from Leganes in Spain - costing only £18m in a deal which will surely go down as an absolute bargain.

Leipzig contracted their new star until 2030 - putting the club in total control over his next move.

They are believed to be seeking a deal worth around €100m for their outstanding winger - who has scored 12 top-flight goals and made nine assists in his debut season.

Diomande - named the Bundesliga’s Rookie of the Year - is set to play a starring role for Les Elephants at the forthcoming FIFA World Cup.

But any team - including Liverpool - hoping to sign Diomande following the conclusion of the international showpiece have now been dealt a blow.

Diomande intends to stay

It looks increasingly likely that Diomande will REMAIN with Leipzig next season - and previous reports even suggest that the club will offer their prized attacker a new deal.

And now in an interview with Kicker Diomande has more or less confirmed the stance.

"Yes," he replied when asked if he would still be with Leipzig next season.

"I'm not thinking about that at the moment,” he added when quizzed about his transfer destiny.

"I'm under contract in Leipzig and I enjoy playing here. But nobody knows what will happen after that. Everyone has ambitions, including me. My dream is to play at the highest level possible."

Geertruida among RB Leipzig players available instead

Liverpool know they will have a fight on their hands to secure the signing of Diomande. Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are also thought to be keen - while it is inevitable that other Premier League sides will come into the reckoning.

Leipzig require around €100m of sales this summer but letting go of Diomande isn’t apparently an option. More likely are the sales of Castello Lukeba and potentially some fringe players including another Liverpool target in the shape of Lutsharel Geertruida.
