Liverpool are in the process of shaking up their forward options.

The Reds are buying Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain for a fee that could reach £123m.

At the same time talks are underway to sell Cody Gakpo to Manchester City for around £85m.

But Richard Hughes isn’t done yet.

Outgoings will be necessary

There is still plenty of trading to be done - with Ismaila Sarr and Yankuba Minteh both in the club’s sights at the window ticks to a conclusion.

In order to finance those deals - and find room in the squad - other outgoings could well be necessary. From the forward line we could see Federico Chiesa and Harvey Elliott both disappear.

Harvey Elliott is wanted by Valencia

Chiesa is wanted by teams in Serie A while Elliott has got strong interest from Valencia. With only one year left on his deal it could be prudent for the Liverpool sporting director to cash in.

But the Spanish side are not exactly flush - and are thought to be only keen on a loan. But that would not suit Liverpool from a financial standpoint with 23-year-old Elliott set to leave the club on a free at the end of the season.

"I try not to respond to rumors related to the transfer market,” Valencia coach Carlos Corberan is reported by Los Provincias to have said about discussions for Elliott by Los Provincas.

“Any specific names or positions the club asks me about, I keep internal."

Valencia want Ramazani, Elliott is the back-up option

It has now emerged that Elliott is on Los Che’s list as a back-up plan.

They want to sign Largie Ramazani from Leeds United - where the Belgian is under contract until 2028. And if it’s a case that Valencia cannot wrap up a deal with the Whites then Plan Elliott could well be activated.

Elliott’s immediate future therefore could well be in Leeds’ hands.

Should the West Yorkshire side fail to come to terms with Valencia over a deal for 25-year-old Ramazani then Corberan could make a late move to attract Elliott to his currently misfiring side.
