Insider lets slip names of three confirmed targets
Liverpool are plotting a major overhaul of the squad this summer with one trusted club insider letting slip the name of THREE confirmed targets.
It’s been a disappointing season for Arne Slot’s side following their 2024/25 Premier League title win.
Following a £450m spending spree last summer much was expected from the Merseysiders but they have fallen a long way short of a title defence.
And it’s all led to speculation of unprecedented change around the squad once again.
Midfield is due a shakeup with both Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones tipped for an exit.
The Anfield club will require new wingers too - with Mohamed Salah leaving and being potentially joined as an outgoing by Federico Chiesa.
Lewis Steele names three targets
And club bosses have identified THREE targets who can get Liverpool going again in those key positions according to Lewis Steele in the Daily Mail.
“There is tentative interest in 20-year-olds Kees Smit, of AZ Alkmaar, and Bazoumana Toure, of Hoffenheim,” the report reads.
“Archie Gray, who is the same age, could also be one to watch if Spurs go down.”
Smit - A Dutch cup winner last week with AZ - is expected to move on this summer with Jorge Mendes enlisted to help with the sale.
Toure meanwhile has been a favourite of Reds’ recruiters for quite sme time and has made huge progress at Bundesliga side Hoffenheim during the 2025/26 season.
Gray was looked at back in 2024 when it came time for him to leave hometown club Leeds United.
The young Englishman opted for the first-team football on offer at Tottenham but the North London side are embroiled in a shocking relegation battle.
Smit, Toure and Gray wanted
It looks like the focus for sporting director Richard Hughes this summer is on getting the average age of the squad down and these three pieces of the transfer puzzle fit nicely together on that front.
It remains to be seen who will be making way to accommodate these new faces - but we can expect Macca and Jones to be in the running to leave.
With Salah already on the exit ramp Toure could be just the kind of player Liverpool need to provide one-v-one quality out wide.
He’s into double figures for Bundesliga assists this term and is set to play a big role for Ivory Coast at the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
