25-year-old Liverpool star wants out as Fabrizio Romano confirms £30m deal
Liverpool have been busy in the closing stages of the summer transfer window.
It looks as though the signing of Bradley Barcola will be followed in short order by a deal for another winger.
And the club caused a major surprise over the weekend by triggering a deal for young goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans.
The Genk star, 18, will move to Anfield on a package worth around €35m in summer 2027.
The deal was confirmed by Italian transfer heavyweight Fabrizio Romano on Monday morning.
Brughmans will replace Alisson in 2027
According to various sources Reds recruiters see the young Belgian as a potential successor to Alisson Becker. The Brazilian is out of contract in 2027 with 6’7 giant Brughmans now in pole position to replace him down the line.
This deal of course will come as a major blow to one Liverpool player in particular.
Giorgi Mamardashvili, 25, joined the Reds on a deal worth an initial £24m back in 2024 from Valencia.

He remained on loan with Los Che for the 2024/25 season before commencing his Anfield career last summer. Initially signed as Alisson’s eventual replacement it hasn’t gone to plan for the Georgian UEFA Euro 2024 star.
The jury remains out on his performances with an admission coming from within the club that he might not have what it takes to fill Alisson’s gloves on a full-time basis.
This Brughmans deal therefore hastens his demise with Nottingham Forest coming through with interest in the closing stages of the window.

Mamardashvili wants to leave Liverpool right now
A report from Spanish source Fichajes now claims that Mamardashvili is seeking a Liverpool exit this summer - with the writing very much on the wall for his Merseyside career.
“Mamardashvili is looking for a change of scenery,” the report reads. “The Georgian goalkeeper wants to leave Liverpool this summer.”
This deal won’t go down as Richard Hughes’ finest hour - although profit may still be banked on the goalkeeper in Forest’s time of need.
It is a signing that simply hasn’t worked out however - with Alisson triggering a contract extension and Liverpool now completing a deal for eventual successor Brughmans.
