Last summer Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes conducted a £450m rebuild.

That spending spree included British-record deals for both Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak. Hugo Ekitike was also brought in at considerable expense from Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Premier League champions made big changes to the centre of their frontline last summer - and it’s clear that attacking alterations in the coming off-season will be conducted on the wings.

Yan Diomande, Bradley Barcola and Jarrod Bowen are among the candidates to arrive on Merseyside - with a permanent successor to Mohamed Salah required.

One-v-one quality is set to be prioritised by Hughes and head coach Arne Slot as it’s not been up to the requisite standard during their title defence.

Chiesa willing to take a pay-cut

It looks all but certain that Federico Chiesa will leave meanwhile - having made only ONE Premier League start all season long.

The Italy winger joined in 2024 from Juventus for £12m - inking a deal until 2028 - but his time in England would appear to be rapidly approaching an end.

A report in Calciomercato is now claiming that the 28-year-old is willing to drop his current salary demands in order to secure a move back to Serie A.

“To return to Serie A, Chiesa is also willing to lower his current salary from around €5-6 million net per season,” the report reads.

That equates to around £154k to £185k per week.

LFC want €20m to €25m for Chiesa deal

“His contract with the Reds expires in 2028, but both parties are open to an early separation.”

Right now Hughes is said to be sticking to a high valuation for Chiesa of around €20m to €25m - but that could come down if the Reds are given an indication of interest in the upcoming window.

“The English club's current valuation is around €20-25 million, but it seems they may also consider lower offers.

“In recent transfer windows, Roma had expressed interest in Chiesa at the request of Daniele De Rossi, Napoli had made some inquiries, and the player had also been linked to Juventus with a possible return.”

The report also mentions AC Milan, Napoli, Atalanta and Bologna as possible destinations for Chiesa - who won the title as a bit-part player under Slot last season.
