Talks opened with £51m Real Madrid midfielder handpicked by Andoni Iraola

Liverpool could end up losing a midfielder or two in this summer transfer window.

Inter Milan are pushing their luck when it comes to Curtis Jones - offering well beneath the outgoing Premier League champions’ asking price so far.

The Anfield side want around £35m for Jones with Inter only coming up with around £22m. The Italian champions are prepared to wait it out for the 25-year-old who only has one year left on his deal.

Add in the uncertainty around Alexis Mac Allister and you can see why Richard Hughes and Andoni Iraola may want to take out an insurance policy in the form of another midfielder.

Macca, 27, could move on if no new contract is agreed as his current deal runs out in less than two years.

Eduardo Camavinga talks opened

There has been no shortage of midfield names linked with an inbound transfer - and one of the more intriguing ones is Eduardo Camavinga.

The Real Madrid man had a season to forget - tumbling down the Bernabeu pecking order and losing his place in the French squad.

Under contract until 2029 the 23-year-old looks like he could do with a fresh start and Madrid would be prepared to entertain offers of only €60m (£51m).

Camavinga available for €60m (£51m)

That’s according to a report in Fichajes - which claims Andoni Iraola is driving Liverpool’s pursuit of the talented left-footer.

Indeed it’s been claimed that high-level talks have already taken place between the two clubs - as well as with the former Rennes player’s entourage.

“The upper echelons at Anfield have already made direct contact with their counterparts at the Bernabéu to formally inquire about the terms of a potential strategic transfer,” the report reads.

“The driving force behind this offensive is the new technical director of the Merseyside club, the Spaniard Andoni Iraola.

“The manager from Usurbil sees the French player's complex situation as an unmissable market opportunity, considering that his physical attributes are a perfect fit for the demanding competitive pace of the Premier League.

“The English club is confident of capitalizing on the fact that the Madrid board has set his release clause at around €60 million.

“British intermediaries have intensified phone calls with the former Rennes player's representatives to craft a highly attractive salary offer that would facilitate his immediate move to English football.”

Camavinga chase complicated

Camavinga has been with Madrid since 2021 - winning a couple of Champions League titles.

And the report suggests the midfielder is not yet prepared to call time on his career in the Spanish capital - believing he can fight his way back into Jose Mourinho’s reckoning.

“The talented midfielder has absolutely no intention of leaving Real Madrid this summer and has given his agents a firm order to freeze any financial offers from abroad,” the report reads.

Liverpool will therefore have their work cut out to strike a deal for Camavinga - who looks a lot more attainable at that price point compared to the likes of Adam Wharton and Alex Scott - whose valuations are moving towards nine figures.
