Liverpool cash register rings to the tune of £1m with homegrown midfielder sale
Liverpool has become the ideal finishing school for the best young British and Irish talents around.
Top academy prospects like Conor Bradley - and in more recent times Rio Ngumoha - are given their opportunities to forge a pathway to the first team.
And for the ones just on the periphery there always remains the possibility of a transfer elsewhere in search of that vital fresh start and first-team football.
LFC sold Bobby Clark to Salzburg for £10m
Last season Tyler Morton and Trent Kone-Doherty were among the Liverpool homegrown cohort who were let go.
And this summer it looks like Luca Stephenson is ready to leave on a permanent basis with clubs in the Championship said to be close to sealing a deal.
Liverpool however are STILL reaping the benefits of one deal completed for the 2024/25 season.
Bobby Clark joins Derby County in £6m deal
Bobby Clark was sold to Red Bull Salzburg for a fee of around £10m - having graduated through the Liverpool youth and academy ranks.
The Reds included a sell-on fee of 17.5 percent for the former England under-20 midfielder - whose time in Austria didn’t quite work out.
Clark spent the 2025/26 season on loan at Derby County in the Championship - racking up 42 appearances in the second tier.
It’s now been confirmed that the former Newcastle United youth has joined the Rams on a permanent basis for around £6m - netting Liverpool ANOTHER windfall.
Clever Clark clause sees Liverpool bank 17.5 percent
Having already banked £10m from Salzburg for the deal the Liverpool cash register is ringing again for another approximate £1m for the 21-year-old.
That is a very tidy piece of business for Clark - who no doubt remains a midfield prospect of immense promise.
Clark played 14 times for the Liverpool first team throughout his time at Anfield - including a memorable appearance as part of “Klopp’s Kids” in the 2024 EFL Cup final win against Chelsea at Wembley.
Last season he was crowned Derby’s young player of the year and now looks set for a solid stint with John Eustace’s side.
