Liverpool have been having trouble replacing Trent Alexander-Arnold on the right side of defence.

The homegrown right-back departed on a bargain £10m deal for Real Madrid last summer - with Richard Hughes entrusting Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong with the England international’s duties.

But it’s not worked out.

Right-back remains a problem for Liverpool

Bradley has been inconsistent and remains injured since suffering a terrible leg injury against Arsenal in January. Frimpong has been injury-hit in his first year at Anfield and looks ill-at-ease in that right-back role.

It has led to speculation that the outgoing Premier League champions could be looking at making a signing at right-back. And although he would be off the agenda for this summer at least an ideal candidate is emerging at Inter Milan.

Anan Khalaili wants Liverpool move

The Italian champions are signing Anan Khalaili from Union SG in Belgium after he emerged as a breakthrough star last season. But according to a report from reporter Marco Barzaghi the Israel international has ALREADY got his eyes on a move to Merseyside.

Indeed it’s been claimed that Cristian Chivu - the Inter head coach - even suggested that he could use his time at the Italian champions as a springboard towards a move to Anfield down the line.

“Inter were extremely determined to sign Anan. They wanted him at all costs,” he told his YouTube audience.

“We went through a terrible week. The transfer came very close to collapsing, but then Cristian Chivu took the initiative and called Anan personally.

“He believes Anan can continue to improve and perhaps one day fulfil his childhood dream of playing for Liverpool. Personally, I probably wouldn’t have said that to him.”

Anan Khalaili joins Inter Milan for £21m

Anan Khalaili is a 2004‑born Arab‑Israeli right‑sided player who came through Maccabi Haifa’s academy before moving to Union Saint‑Gilloise in 2024 and breaking out in Belgium and with Israel’s national teams.

He’s an explosive, sprint‑level athlete down the right, able to play as a wing‑back or winger, thriving in wide 1v1s, attacking space on the counter and pressing aggressively without the ball in a Dumfries‑style role.

In July 2026, Inter sealed a deal to sign him from Union SG for around €25m plus bonuses, handing him a five‑year contract and earmarking him as their long‑term starter on the right flank following Dumfries’ departure.
