Liverpool target has stance on future confirmed

There may still be six weeks left of the summer transfer window but, it already feels like Liverpool have been linked with every player possible.

Andoni Iraola has an awful lot of work to do to make sure that his team get back on track and start challenging for silverware again during the 2026-27 season.

However, without adding some new players to his ranks soon, it feels like Liverpool could end up even worse off than they were last term.

But, since the market is so inflated and so brutal at the moment, it's hardly a surprise to find out that the Reds are casting their net far and wide for potential targets.

It's still unclear how much money they have to spend without moving some of their own players on but, at the moment, it does feel like the club are still gearing themselves up to go on a decent spending spree, especially with some of the recent players they've been linked with.

Manu Kone would prefer a Premier League move rather than a Saudi Pro League one

Even though Iraola has more or less confirmed that Alexis Mac Allister is set to stay at Anfield, it still feels like a new midfielder or two being brought in would go a long way towards getting Liverpool back to the top.

Indeed, Dominik Szoboszlai was arguably the Reds' best player last term but, Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch were miles off the pace.

Their underperformance led to fans wanting to see both of them moved on and replaced by some fresh talent.

And, while this isn't likely to happen anymore, introducing another one or two midfielders could go a long way towards helping Liverpool get back to their best.

AS Roma's Manu Kone has recently been linked with a Liverpool move and now, Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri has shared an update about where the Frenchman sees his future heading.

"According to Sky Sport CH , Al-Ahli Saudi Club has directly contacted AS Roma to inquire about Manu Koné's price," he wrote.

"The Saudi club has shown a concrete interest in the French midfielder, whose performances at the World Cup have convinced the club's management to make a move.

"However, the competition is significant. Manchester United are also monitoring the player, while Atlético Madrid scouted him last April, as revealed by Sky Sport CH.

"Although Koné currently favors a project in the Premier League over La Liga, he is not ruling out a move to Saudi Arabia.

"Discussions are currently underway and the situation could change rapidly."

Manu Kone would be €60 million well spent for Liverpool

Since Szoboszlai is guaranteed to be one of Liverpool's attack-minded midfielders alongside Florian Wirtz, they're probably better off targeting either a box-to-box midfielder or another number six.

This is exactly why Kone fits the bill perfectly.

The Frenchman is often one of Roma's busiest players in the centre of the park and, although he may have only contributed to five goals last season, the fact that he played as both a number six and a box-to-box midfielder make him a perfect candidate for Liverpool.

Kone is also only 25 years old so, even though he's already an extremely talented player, the fact that he could grow to become an even better one is certainly an exciting prospect for Liverpool.

Indeed, Roma are asking for around €60 million (£51 million) to allow him to exit this summer but, with players such as Elliott Anderson and Morgan Rogers being sold for over £115 million each, Kone feels like an absolute steal.

Indeed, the Reds' move for Kone will mostly depend on what their plans for players such as Stefan Bajcetic, Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones are but, if they move any of them on or just want to add some more midfield talent to their ranks, they wouldn't go too far wrong by bringing Kone in.
