Arne Slot is out as head coach and it's all change at Liverpool. The Reds will now move forward with someone else - though, exactly who that is hasn't been confirmed.

The Dutchman was supposed to be the long-term plan at Liverpool but things will be torn up to start again. That does throw up some interesting questions, however.

One of them surrounds Curtis Jones. The Scouser's contract expires next summer and he nearly joined Inter in January as the now-Serie A champions viewed him as a great option.

They still do, and it's long been expected that Jones would head to Inter. But why does he want to leave his boyhood club? A lack of opportunities.

The Athletic is one of many outlets to point out his frustration at a lack of starts under Slot. Jones barely started in midfield towards the end of the campaign, with virtually all of his opportunities coming at right-back - despite Jeremie Frimpong, signed as a right-back, available to play.

Slot's exit does change things. We know Jones won't want to give up his Liverpool career easily and will only do so if he feels there's no other choice to further his career.

So here's an opportunity. The new coach may fancy him where Slot didn't, and there's another chance to earn a regular spot in midfield.

The power is in Jones's hands here. If he wants to stay, he can easily see out the final year of his contract to properly judge his chances. Or he can force an early exit, which Liverpool would oblige in order to get a fee.
