Liverpool ready offer, €50m for star who can play 'with any team'
Liverpool are reportedly putting €50m on the table. And it's for a talent who can play 'with any team'.
Liverpool are weighing up their major targets for 2027. Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean that they land them - or that they won't change during a transfer window.
We saw that en masse in 2026 as Liverpool drifted from target to target. Yan Diomande was the original idea and they ultimately ended up with Bradley Barcola. Having considered moves for Yankuba Minteh and Ismaila Sarr on the way.
But Liverpool have changed their strategy somewhat. They're in the business of looking at very young targets, snapping them up long before competition heats up and before their price skyrockets.
Gilberto Mora is in demand
Liverpool were linked with a move for Mexico's biggest young talent, Gilberto Mora, all summer long. The playmaker never actually moved anywhere, however, and he remains at Tijuana.
But reports this week suggest Liverpool are about to go all-in on a move. TUDN in Mexico claims a €50m offer is imminent from the Reds and that they're pushing hard to sign Mora.
Of course, other clubs will join this race but Liverpool are attempting to get ahead of all competition. And in the process, they're demonstrating to the player that they're more confident in his ability than most.
Someone else who has no doubt about Mora's quality is Mexico boss Rafa Marquez. He refused to comment on the link to Liverpool directly but was completely clear in his confidence around the player.
"I think Gilberto has a lot of talent, and I think he can have a great future, if he manages it well,” he said, per ABC Noticias.
“I think he could fit in with any team; he has the ability and, above all, the mentality to want to succeed. Wherever he goes, I’m sure he can have many opportunities and have a great career.”
That ability to play for 'any team' is what will essentially convince everyone to push for Mora. A young player where you don't need to question his 'fit' for you is the dream, really - it's a sign that he can fulfil his potential anywhere.
It's genuinely something worth €50m, and likely why Liverpool are supposedly ready to make an offer.
