Get in, massive hint star is about to sign Liverpool contract
There's been a massive hint that one star is ready to sign a Liverpool contract. The Reds have got to push this one home.
Liverpool have some major contract situations to figure out over the coming months. It would be ideal, really, if they could get Virgil van Dijk signed up before January 1st, for instance.
Admittedly, that doesn't feel likely. The Reds were in the same situation two years ago - with a Van Dijk who was two years younger - and they didn't re-sign the captain until April.
We imagine it'll be similar this time around, even if we'd like to see things sorted nice and early for once. Virtually no one wants to see him leave Liverpool and locking Van Dijk down, even on a one-year deal, would be fantastic.
But he's also not the only one.
Alisson Becker's future
Alisson Becker also has an expiring contract and it comes hot on the heels of intense speculation that Juventus want to sign him. The Old Lady pushed for a deal in the summer, only for Liverpool to ultimately say no.
But the Reds don't currently have a way to do that in 2027. Juventus are as free to negotiate with the player as Liverpool come January 1st and it promises to be one of the biggest topics of conversation this season.
However, we do wonder if there's been a positive hint for Liverpool. Reports in Italy, such as from TuttoMercatoWeb claim that Juventus are suddenly considering a permanent move for Guglielmo Vicario.
Vicario is on loan there from Tottenham Hotspur, essentially a last-resort move after they failed to land Alisson. The sense was that a temporary deal would free up room for Alisson in 2027 but that may no longer be the case.
Juventus are already wondering if they should just trigger the option in the contract to sign Vicario for €15m. It's a move that would almost certainly rule out Alisson - they don't need both, after all, and if the plan is to sign the Liverpool star then there's absolutely no need to sign Vicario.
This feels like the biggest sign yet, then, that Alisson may not be on the table next year after all. There's a long way to go here, after all, but a positive hint is a positive hint.
And we'll take it.
