Liverpool quoted £100m, 4th nine-figure signing could be on the way

A fourth nine-figure signing? One club has slapped enormous valuations on their players - and that will hit Liverpool.

Liverpool have spent unprecedented amounts of cash in the last two summers. They’ve gone from zero nine-figure signings to three a little over a year, completely reshaping their attack with elite talent.

Now, it should be said that the transfers haven’t quite delivered yet. Liverpool took a giant step backwards last season and are trying to get back on track in this campaign under Andoni Iraola.

And we should stress that the squad building process is not done. Richard Hughes has left behind a very imbalanced squad, one which lacks a right-winger as well as midfield depth.

The Reds must re-enter the market in 2027 to correct things, then, and they’ve naturally had a look at three players from Iraola’s former club, Bournemouth. However, none of those players are coming cheap.

Bournemouth quote £100m

Liverpool have looked into three Bournemouth players in 2026, though ultimately opted not to pursue any of them. Still, they’re supposedly watching them in case of potential moves in 2027.

That includes Eli Kroupi Junior, who we imagine is the least-likely of the three to make the move. Rayan is another - he has a £130m release clause kicking in this January, which could force Bournemouth to sell.

And then there’s Alex Scott. David Ornstein writes for the Athletic that Liverpool are interested in the midfielder, along with several other elite clubs.

Ornstein also claims that Bournemouth have set asking prices for all three. Massive prices, too: they’d want at least £100m each for the trio should they sell next year.

And given the way the summer went, it’s really not impossible. Those do appear to be the going rates for players of this calibre and potential.

Will Liverpool pay that money? We’re not so sure. Rayan and Scott are by far the most likely and the squad does need players in their positions.

But for £100m a pop? We’ll have to wait and see how they play over the first half of this campaign. It’s certainly not beyond the realm of possibility.
