When Coutinho had the ball, Liverpool fans knew everything was possible. He was a nightmare for Premier League defenders and a dream for attackers who played alongside him.

It's no coincidence that Raheem Sterling, Mo Salah,Sadio Mane, Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez all thrived alongside him.

The most exciting football Liverpool played in their recent era was probably when Coutinho was on the pitch playing behind the trio of Salah, Mane and Roberto Firmino.

It was a phenomenal time and it's now what Liverpool are trying to recreate.

Andoni Iraola's exciting plans for Liverpool's attack

It's clear that even though the direction of modern football seems to be trending towards a more controlled and defensive style of play, Liverpool want to be the antithesis of this.

With Iraola, the goal is to build one of the most exciting and high-intensity attacking teams in the Premier League.

It's why Alexander Isak and Bradley Barcola have been brought in for big money. It's also why Hugo Ekitike has been signed.

And naturally, there's also Florian Wirtz, who is the one supposed to be Liverpool's long-term Coutinho replacement.

Wirtz hasn't set the world alight yet, but Liverpool are patient and confident that he will soon start firing on all cylinders and then with him unlocked, the Reds will be unstoppable.

African Coutinho is coming to Liverpool

The Reds of course also have other attacking midfielders they have acquired. Erik Farkas has recently signed his first professional contract at the club. Samuel Martinez is set to join Liverpool when he turns 18-years-old next summer.

Both of them are highly rated youth internationals, who have put in very impressive performances at the highest levels in their own age-groups.

There's another attacking midfielder who is also going to be heading to Liverpool. Sheriff Bah has already spent two weeks at Liverpool's academy over the course of August, and caught the eye.

He's now impressing for Gambia's U23 national team, registering this beautiful assist on his debut. It's very Coutinho esque and Bah is known for being a similar sort of player to Coutinho.

Having turned 18-years-old in September, Bah is eligible to sign for Liverpool in January, and with his performances continuing to catch the eye, it's inevitable that the Reds will complete the African midfielder's signature.
