Liverpool agree new long-term deal for 18-year-old sensation

Liverpool have been linked with an awful lot of players this summer.

The Anfield outfit were expected to add five or six new signings to their ranks but, at the moment, that's feeling rather unlikely.

Some of the Reds' major problem areas such as right-back have obviously been addressed but, there are still a couple of positions among their ranks that could do with bolstering.

Obviously, there is still some time for Liverpool to get deals over the line but, realistically, it feels like that would be a bit difficult for them to do, especially with how busy bank holiday Monday was for the Reds.

But, there is one deal that is expected to be completed on 1 September that should certainly excite fans.

Liverpool and Lucca Brughmans have agreed to a five or six year deal this summer

One of the main things that Liverpool have tried to do over the last couple of transfer windows is to prepare for their future.

Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz are all examples of this from last summer with each of them still having plenty of their careers to grow and develop into even better players.

This time around, things haven't been much different either with a deal for Bradley Barcola also just being confirmed.

Obviously, preparing for the future is a massive thing and trying to sign players before they explode is one of the best ways to guarantee success.

And now, thanks to an update from journalist Bob Faesen, Liverpool have now confirmed what the future of their goalkeeping position looks like.

"Racing Genk and Liverpool have agreed on a fee of 35 million euros for Lucca Brughmans," he shared via X.

"The 18-year-old goalkeeper can sign for 5 or 6 years.

"The only question remaining is whether he transfers immediately or finishes the season at Genk."

Lucca Brughmans could become Liverpool's next Alisson

Despite Brughmans only being 18 years old, he's already 6'7.

The goalkeeper has been KRC Genk's main 'keeper since last season and, while some of his performances and saves left a lot to be desired, he still looks to be an incredible prospect.

Obviously, if he were to join Liverpool right now, he wouldn't be able to prise Alisson away from his starting place but, he could end up being better than Giorgi Mamardashvili.

The Georgian has had a tough time of it at Liverpool with all of his weaknesses being exposed last term.

So, the fact that he's now being linked with a move to Nottingham Forest makes a lot of sense.

Obviously, Freddie Woodman and Viteslav Jaros would also be fighting to become the Reds' second-choice if Mamardashvili left but, with the Reds spending around £30 million on Brughmans, it would be silly for them not to give him a shot.

In the future, if Brughmans' development continues on this upward trajectory, he could become a key part of Iraola's plans and, with him signing a five or six year deal, it's clear that Liverpool also see him as a big part of their future.
