Jurgen Klopp has addressed the injury Mohamed Salah suffered during Egypt's Africa Cup of Nations draw with Ghana on Thursday.

The Liverpool No. 11 had to be substituted towards the end of the first half of the game after going down unchallenged with an apparent hamstring issue.

The forward was later pictured in the Egypt dugout and was able to walk through the mixed zone past journalists, seemingly without discomfort, after the game.

Egypt manager Rui Vitoria appeared relatively optimistic when discussing Salah's injury scare in the post-match press conference.

"I hope it's not a big problem," Vitoria said told reporters. "But it was a problem in the first-half, because we lost one time to make a substitution. In the second-half we only had two moments to make substitutions."

Asked about the nature of the injury, he added: "Now I don't know because it's [too] early to see something. I think it's not dangerous, but let's see if Salah recovers."

The severity of Salah's issue remains to be seen, with Klopp revealing the Premier League's joint-leading goalscorer and assist maker this season is set for more scans to assess the damage.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the weekend's game against Bournemouth, Klopp said: "We don't know anything. I spoke last night with him and how it is with his injury and further assessment. That's what they are doing now. And we will know more.

"At that moment, [it was] a shock ... [he] couldn't see that like he was hit by something high intense. You have these hamstring injuries in different ways but he felt it and we know how rarely Mo goes off, so it is definitely something but we will see. I don't have any more information."

He added: "There will be an ultrasound and MRI and then we will see."

On the other injury issues in the squad, Klopp gave a positive update, revealing that at least three players are closing in on returns to action.

He said: "Obviously Trent can walk on the catwalk! They are all positive but not ready. We're getting closer and closer.

"For the Bournemouth game I don't expect anybody back

"After Bournemouth and maybe for Fulham, we will see. Trent [is] close, Dom close, Robbo close. All going in the right direction but for the weekend's game, no."
