Julian Ward has reportedly made contact to sign an exciting left-back for Liverpool.

There is a new man in charge at Anfield, although he is hardly a stranger. Julian Ward is back, and he already knows what it takes to succeed as Liverpool's sporting director.

His previous spell in the role was a fruitful one, but disagreements with Jurgen Klopp over the club's long-term direction ultimately led to his resignation. Ward officially departed in the summer of 2023, only to return just over a year later following Klopp's announcement that he would leave Liverpool.

Since then, Ward has quietly worked behind the scenes, contributing to recruitment and helping shape the club's plans. Now, he has the opportunity to step back into the spotlight and lead Liverpool's next chapter.

Liverpool want to reinforce the left-back position

When Milos Kerkez arrived at the club, he was regarded as the best young player in his position not only in the Premier League but in European football.

Kerkez didn't have it easy, entering the club at a horrific time with everyone reeling from the tragedy of Diogo Jota's death. Then came a brutal season as Arne Slot struggled to get the best out of his team.

In that time, Kerkez was often unfairly labelled as a scapegoat and received a lot of harsh criticism that was simply not warranted.

Now with his former coach at Bournemouth Andoni Iraola at the club, it's very apparent that the Hungarian is getting back to his best.

That doesn't mean that he won't be getting anymore competition. Julian Ward is ready to bring someone in who could challenge and potentially replace him as well.

Liverpool make contact with El Hadji Malick Diouf's agent

There's an exciting move on the horizon for Liverpool. According to journalist Khadim Diakhate writing on X, the Reds are interested in signing Brentford's Senegalese left-back.

Diouf has caught the eye ever since he came into the Premier League, and he's also established himself as a regular member of Senegal's national team.

Brentford signed him for £40m from West Ham United in the summer. However, according to Diakhate Liverpool are already sniffing around for his services with the journalist claiming that the Reds have already made contact with Diouf's representatives over a potential transfer.

Quick and an excellent crosser of the ball, Diouf is still very young at just 21-years-old and he's definitely someone who could push Kerkez further than Kostas Tsimikas at the moment.

Let's keep a close eye on this move. Brentford likely won't make it easy for Diouf to leave so soon after he signed for the club.
