It's official: two-time Serie A winner is coming to Liverpool

Liverpool have made an exciting new addition.

It's been an unusually quiet summer for Liverpool in the transfer market. For a club that looked set for another major rebuild, there has been very little movement, leaving supporters wondering when the club will finally kick into gear.

To be fair, there have been plenty of factors working against Liverpool.

The biggest disruption came off the pitch. A managerial change at the end of the season meant Andoni Iraola arrived with new ideas, new demands and a different vision for the squad.

At the same time, Michael Edwards stepped away from his role, while Richard Hughes is also preparing to leave. Those are significant changes at the top of the club, and they inevitably affect recruitment. Decisions take longer, priorities shift and plans often have to be revisited.

The World Cup has only complicated matters further. International tournaments always slow the transfer market, with clubs reluctant to negotiate while players are focused on representing their countries. It has created a domino effect across Europe, making it difficult for deals to gather momentum.

Liverpool then suffered another major setback when their priority target, Yan Diomande, opted to join Paris Saint-Germain instead. Missing out on your first-choice signing is never ideal, especially when so much planning has been built around bringing that player to Anfield.

There has been one notable arrival, with Victor Munoz joining the club after helping his country win the World Cup. It's an exciting signing and one that should improve Iraola's squad immediately.

But Liverpool cannot stop there.

One addition simply isn't enough considering the amount of work still required. The squad still feels short in several key positions, and it's difficult to escape the feeling that Liverpool are still four or five signings away from having the depth and balance needed to compete across all competitions. That's before taking into account any further departures before the deadline.

Iraola himself admitted during his first press conference that he wants the club to strengthen, so there is clearly an understanding internally that more business needs to be completed.

The concern now is the clock. With just six weeks remaining before the transfer window shuts, Liverpool have a huge amount to accomplish. Given the club's history of taking a patient approach in the market, fitting everything into such a short period of time looks like a difficult challenge.

Obviously, at the same time while all of this is going on Iraola has had to change the club's entire backroom staff.

Many of Arne Slot's men, and even those who weren't strictly speaking Slot hires left the club this summer. Among them was goalkeeping coach Xavi Valero.

The Spaniard was enjoying his second stint at the club after working with Rafa Benitez and seemed to have done well in his role. However, he announced he was leaving his role and that left a hole to be filled.

Thankfully, Liverpool have now filled that hole.

The club confirmed on its official website that Alejandro Rosalen is joining Liverpool as a goalkeeping coach.

The 49-year-old Spaniard is well-renowned in the field. He previously worked at Napoli, where he won two Serie A titles and got the best out of a lot of young goalkeepers.

In the past, he also worked at Fiorentina and Videoton. The latter he played a role in taking to the Europa League group-stages, which was a huge achievement for the club.

Rosalen will now work with the likes of Alisson, Giorgi Mamardashvili and Freddie Woodman in order to get them ready for Iraola's squad.
