It's decided, African star is coming to Liverpool

An African star is now coming to Liverpool after a last-minute decision.

Richard Hughes' final transfer window in charge of the Reds ended with just three senior signings.

Ronald Araujo, Victor Munoz and Bradley Barcola.

It's an underwhelming window given the sheer size of Liverpool's recruitment the previous summer when the likes of Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike were all brought to Anfield.

However, it's also a sign of the changing of the guard at the club. Hughes will now be joining Al Hilal meanwhile a new consortium led by Amit Bhatia are going to be taking a much more important role in the day-to-day running of the club.

They will likely be tasked with finding a new sporting director after Bhatia played a role in the negotiations to secure the signing of Barcola.

All eyes are on 2027, first on the January and then on the summer window.

Liverpool's lack of summer activity explained

One of the big factors behind Liverpool's lack of movement is explained by the above changes.

At the same time, Liverpool also want to give their young players an opportunity to prove themselves. Last summer's arrivals didn't cover themselves in glory and the Reds want to put the faith in them to put it right this season.

At the same time, there's also a lot of exciting young players coming through the system.

Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni have both shown they can step-up and fill the void left behind by the likes of Mo Salah and Curtis Jones.

That is the primary reason why Liverpool didn't go on a mass spending spree, and while Iraola will be disappointed by the lack of depth at his disposal, it is guaranteed that Liverpool will be spending big under Bhatia and his new consortium in the next few windows.

Liverpool's first transfer under Bhatia revealed

Bhatia will likely have big plans and among the most important of his priorities will likely be addressing the lack of defensive minded midfielders in the Reds' squad.

Liverpool have been trying to replace Fabinho for years with no avail. They failed to sign Aurelien Tchouameni, Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia and Martin Zubimendi.

All of the aforementioned names ended up at rival clubs.

That was going to be the case for Lamine Camara as well until a last-minute decision by AS Monaco prevented him from joining Chelsea.

The French side pulled the plug on his £47m transfer, which had already been agreed.

Now according to Ben Jacobs who was speaking on talkSPORT there may have been an ulterior motive behind that decision.

"But I can tell you something else exclusive right now, Liverpool Football Club made a call this evening and more than one I am told, to say to the camp of Camara, 'wait', to say to Monaco, 'wait' because Liverpool don't want Lamine Camara now, they never explored it," Jacobs said.

"Alexis Mac Allister is still at the club but my understanding is that Liverpool said to Monaco 'wait.' Liverpool said to Camara 'wait.'

"Now to be clear so this is not taken out of context we are not saying Liverpool interfered in the deal relating to Chelsea we are saying all day Liverpool said to Monaco and Liverpool said to Camara if you don't get your move, and it was not looking likely in the middle of the day, we will be back for you potentially in 2027 and that is a factor in this story."

Now this sounds like Liverpool are already making plans for January.

It sounds like, Camara will be coming to Anfield. Monaco's last minute decision hints at this being a Marc Guehi type situation where Camara will get his move in six months, for a higher fee.

This time though the African star will be signing for Liverpool.
