"It will be interesting" - Paul Scholes on the 2022-23 title race

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes believes that Liverpool will claim the 2022-23 Premier League title.

The 47-year-old said that Manchester City are the favourites to secure the trophy this season. But, for some reason, Scholes fancies Liverpool to win the title this campaign.

“They (Manchester City) are possibly favourites,” he told Premier League Productions, as quoted by HITC. “But, as I said, I fancy Liverpool slightly.

“However, you can’t write off Manchester City. They are a brilliant football team. They are changing a little bit, in transition, I think, with (Erling) Haaland coming in.

“It will be interesting. Manchester City can win the Premier League, of course they can, because they are a brilliant football team.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

It's too early to predict which side will claim the 2022-23 Premier League title. Yes, Liverpool and Manchester City are the two best teams in England.

But, one of the Reds or the Citizens could suffer an injury or two to a key player/s. The minute that happens, the landscape changes.

So, there is a lot of football to be played before we predict which side will be victorious come the end of the season.

All we will say is that we hope Scholes is correct.

Liverpool will welcome Crystal Palace to Anfield next Monday night. Manchester City on the other hand will face Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

On another note, it's brilliant to have Premier League football back. It is the best spectacle in world sport.
