Incredible: Liverpool 'so convinced' they've secured phenomenal star
Liverpool believe they've got the future of a phenomenal star under wraps. Bayern Munich can forget it.
Liverpool are in the process of grabbing some of the best young talents in world football. They've bagged quite a few already, with Giovanni Leoni and Jeremy Jacquet viewed as the future at centre-back.
But no matter who they sign, it's unlikely that they'll pick up anyone with a higher ceiling than Rio Ngumoha. The electric winger is the kind of talent who ends up winning major awards and driving a team towards trophies.
If he fulfils his potential, of course.
Bayern Munich certainly feel he has that kind of potential. It emerged last week that they'd pushed to try and sign the teenager recently and journalist Christian Falk has now confirmed that.
He claims that Ngumoha's brother, who essentially represents the teenager, met with Bayern and told them that he'd move there. A contract wouldn't be an issue, it seems.
However, Falk makes it clear that Liverpool aren't worried. They have no intention to sell whatsoever and are 'so convinced' that Ngumoha is going to be a superstar.
They feel he's secure in his contract and role at Liverpool, with no threat of him leaving anytime soon. It's exactly what we wanted to hear after the Bayern scare - that Ngumoha is a Red for the foreseeable future.
Rio Ngumoha: Situation Summary
Liverpool Career and Performance
As of 12 June 2026, Rio Ngumoha is a 17-year-old forward for Liverpool FC. Since arriving at the club’s Academy from Chelsea in September 2024, the versatile left-sided attacker has enjoyed a meteoric rise. He made his professional debut in January 2025 and marked his Premier League debut on 25 August 2025 by scoring a dramatic last-minute winner against Newcastle United, becoming Liverpool’s youngest-ever goalscorer. Following a breakout 2025/26 campaign that saw him record 30 appearances across all competitions, he has been shortlisted for the PFA Young Player of the Year award.
International Status and World Cup Involvement
Ngumoha is currently with the England national team in Florida for their pre-World Cup preparation camp. He earned his senior international debut as a second-half substitute in a 1–0 victory over New Zealand on 6 June 2026, becoming the fifth-youngest England debutant in history. Although he is training with the squad in North America and recently scored in a behind-closed-doors friendly against a Miami XI, he was not included in manager Thomas Tuchel’s final 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. His high-level performances have attracted significant interest from Bayern Munich, though he remains under contract at Anfield until 30 June 2028.
