Liverpool's next £100m transfer has just become very obvious.

The price of a decent footballer has quite literally gotten out of hand recently. It seems these days if you are quite good at football, you will probably cost around £100m.

A few years ago that price tag used to be reserved for the very best players on the planet. It would have been unfathomable to see Liverpool breaking the £100m record not just once, but twice in one window.

Well, last summer they did. Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak. Whether they are worth that money, hasn't really been decided.

Even after an entire year at the club, neither has quite justified the lofty price tags on the shoulders, nor the have they truly delivered performances that have met our expectations.

They might still do.

There's still plenty of time. Liverpool signed both of them on long-term six year deals. In the years to come, Isak and Wirtz could become the superstars of this team.

They are going to have to be. This is why Liverpool went out of their way to sign them. With Andoni Iraola, there is a good chance he can get the best out of the duo and succeed where Arne Slot failed.

But there is another thing Liverpool are going to have to get used to - spending in excess of £100m.

This has just become the norm. This summer's window is living proof.

Players like Elliot Anderson going not for just £100m but £120m and others going for equally ridiculous fees.

Liverpool themselves are going to have to spend over £100m in order to sign Bradley Barcola, and therefore bring in another £100m player.

After him, the question is who becomes the next big money signing?

Well, given the fact that Liverpool's mission will be to reinforce the attack by the end of the summer bringing in Barcola and on top of him another winger who can play on the right, it's fair to say the next focus for the Reds will be on the midfield.

Trey Nyoni is the future. Dominik Szoboszlai has extended his stay and will likely be captain next summer meanwhile Ryan Gravenberch is also on a long-term deal.

But Curtis Jones has departed and Alexis Mac Allister's future is also up in the air.

Long-term the plan is going to have to be to bring in more midfielders and reinforce that area.

A lot of people will likely see Adam Wharton as the perfect player to come in, and the player who could be Liverpool's next £100m signing.

However, the Premier League's opening campaign will have changed perceptions about that.

In Brentford's game against Tottenham, Liverpool's next £100m transfer finally arrived in the Premier League.

Mamadou Sangare proved that he is everything pundits have suggested he could become while he was playing in Ligue 1. The Malian midfielder controlled the middle of the park against Tottenham and played a key role providing an assist for his side's opening goal and then taking on the shoot from which Brentford score their third goal on the rebound.

Sangare was simply everywhere on the pitch. He produced a sublime performance and it's glaringly obvious the energy he has and the way he can cover ground makes him perfectly suited to Iraola's style of play.

It's why we think he is here, and he will be Liverpool's next £100m transfer. Next summer, just you wait.
