Fabrizio Romano confirms Liverpool talks with 'special' sensation
Liverpool may have brought some new players through the Anfield doors over the summer but, there are still a lot of things that need to get sorted out.
Andoni Iraola has only been in his role for a few months but fans can already tell that a completely different version of Liverpool is emerging.
Players such as Lewis Koumas have already won over the Reds' fanbase thanks to his never-ending pressing.
And, since Iraola's style of football is rather heavy metal, fans actually get excited when they see their team on the attack.
However, with there being so many things that they still need to sort out, the sooner they get on with it, the better.
So, this latest news to emerge from Anfield will certainly be music to the ears of Liverpool's fans.
Fabrizio Romano confirms that Liverpool and Rio Ngumoha are in contract talks
It goes without saying that, in Liverpool at the moment, Rio Ngumoha is their brightest prospect.
The 18-year-old was given a regular first-team role by Arne Slot last term but, under Iraola, it feels like he will be given a lot more chances to develop his game.
Indeed, at the moment, he's having to get used on the right-wing due to how many left-wingers Liverpool have but, even with this in mind, he still seems to be doing a solid job.
And, since he's probably one of the best players in his position for his age group, it's clear to see why so many other clubs are interested in him, especially with his contract set to expire in 2028.
With this in mind, the rumour mill has obviously been turning about what the future could have in store for Ngumoha but now, thanks to an update from Fabrizio Romano, fans now have a clearer idea about how things are developing.
"At the moment, Liverpool want to keep the boy and Liverpool are discussing a new contract with Rio," he said vis his YouTube channel.
"So, there are conversations ongoing about the contract, then you still need to get it done, you still need to give the guarantees [that] the player wants, you still need to find the balance on every single point.
"So, let's follow the situation, but, that's the status at the moment."
Rio Ngumoha is part of the next generation of Liverpool's attack
Obviously, since Ngumoha is only 18 years old, he still has a lot of his career ahead of him.
The Englishman has only recently burst on the scene for Liverpool but, even from the few appearances that he's made, it's clear that he's the real deal.
So, the fact that his contract is set to expire in less than two years is rather scary.
Because, if Liverpool can't agree a new contract with the youngster, they'd have to move him on for a cut-rate fee or end up losing him for nothing, just like they did with Ibrahima Konate and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Obviously, there's still a while until the panic will set in but, the fact that the Reds are already in discussions with Ngumoha is surely a good thing.
Here's hoping that a deal for the "special" attacker gets ironed out as soon as possible.
