Fabrizio Romano confirms massive Liverpool transfer is coming
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Liverpool could be making a massive transfer this summer.
This summer feels like it could be one of the biggest turning points the Reds have had in a long time.
For years, the team has been built around a core group of experienced leaders, but now it looks like a major rebuild could finally be happening.
The biggest and most emotional exit will obviously be Mohamed Salah. He has been the face of Liverpool for almost a decade and replacing what he brings to the team on and off the pitch feels nearly impossible. It is not just the goals either. It is the creativity, the consistency and the way he constantly delivers in massive moments.
Then there is Andy Robertson, who will also move on. Robertson has been one of the symbols of the Klopp era with his energy, aggression and leadership down the left side. Losing him feels like the end of another huge chapter for this team.
There are also growing doubts around Alisson Becker. Juventus are stepping up their interest, and while Liverpool would hate to lose one of the best goalkeepers in the world, it suddenly feels like a genuine possibility given he has just one year left on his contract.
If Alisson goes too, Liverpool would lose three massive dressing-room leaders in one summer.
On top of that, the futures of Curtis Jones and Alexis Mac Allister are still unclear.
All of this means another massive summer for Richard Hughes, who now has the difficult job of rebuilding key parts of the squad while keeping Liverpool competitive at the same time.
This is before we even begin to discuss what will happen to Liverpool's manager.
The future of Arne Slot is up in the air and nobody really knows whether he is going to stay or not. The club is communicating that they want to keep him.
However, given how toxic the situation has been on and off the pitch, that position is becoming untenable. Liverpool cannot afford to have a season where they are forced to change managers and then go through another transitional period.
At this stage, it's a bigger risk to keep Slot than the change managers. The Dutchman has shown he is simply not capable of carrying the weight of being under pressure as manager of the club.
Can he truly be trusted to now oversee massive changes and be part of the decision making process for the summer ahead?
It just doesn't seem viable. Especially, when there's a strong likelihood that other players key to the dressing room could also be sold.
Including the longest serving member of Liverpool's dressing room.
Joe Gomez has seen it all. He's been at Liverpool for over a decade, initially joining the Reds while Brendan Rodgers was in charge.
Over the years he has become a really valuable member of the team. However, injuries have halted his progress. On ability alone, the 28-year-old could have become one of the best centre-backs in England's history.
There was a time when he formed a formidable partnership alongside Virgil van Dijk. Gomez was a really good defender and he is still a useful player to have in the team.
However, it does not look like he is going to be staying.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed in his latest YouTube video that Gomez could be leaving the club with AC Milan believing that he could be a 'market opportunity' in the upcoming window.
Now this would be a massive transfer for Liverpool. Letting a key member of the squad leave on top of the other list of names who are set to leave, will be a huge decision. One that will have a massive impact on the trajectory of the club.
Whether in a positive or negative way, only time will tell.
