Crazy u-turn: Last-gasp Liverpool deal could be back on

A last-gasp Liverpool deal could suddenly be back on. A hijacking elsewhere hints something is happening.

Maybe everything isn't quite done at Liverpool. The Reds went into the transfer deadline believing all was finished and no new signings would arrive.

But as we move into the final hours, there's a very strong hint that a deal might be back on. And that's thanks to a sudden move elsewhere that suggests there's a deal in the background.

Malick Fofana has been linked with a move to Arsenal and Sunderland on deadline day. Sunderland won that battle, however, and struck a deal with Lyon to get the winger.

However, there's a sudden move from Crystal Palace. They've now made a bid to match Sunderland's and it appears they're pushing hard to sign Fofana out of nowhere.

The Times is one reporting on the move and they've included the key line for Liverpool: Fofana joining Palace could trigger Ismaila Sarr's exit.

Sarr has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool in recent days. Palace were proving difficult to convince, though, and their price for the Senegal star was sky-high.

Liverpool simply weren't willing to meet it but there's now a suggestion that they could lower it. Fofana would be a replacement for Sarr, removing any great need for Palace to hold onto a wantaway player.

This could be a dramatic u-turn then. Liverpool essentially cancelled an exit for Cody Gakpo to Manchester City because they couldn't get Sarr - could that turn around, too?

What a crazy end to the transfer window this could be.
