Crazy news, Liverpool wonderkid set for unbelievable promotion
One Liverpool wonderkid is set for an incredible promotion. Crazy for someone so young.
Liverpool are all-in on Rio Ngumoha. That much is obvious. The teenager showed his quality last season, albeit in limited minutes, and calls continuously grew for him to get more time.
The Reds consciously didn't replace Luis Diaz in order to free up game time for Ngumoha last season, though Arne Slot didn't really take advantage of that too often. There's a sense that next season will be one for the winger, though, and that Andoni Iraola will have little choice but to bank on him.
And he's not the only one. It appears that England, too, want to hand a key role to Ngumoha going forward, with a view to him being a star for Euro 2028.
That's according to the Telegraph, anyway. Ngumoha was a part of the training squad ahead of the World Cup, of course, and was even given a first England cap in a friendly - the only one of those brought for the 'training squad' to get one.
That certainly showed the faith that Thomas Tuchel and England have in Ngumoha. He's getting similar treatment to certain England stars of the past, with a gradual bedding-in at his incredibly young age.
But once he turns 18? We imagine the national team will promote him fully and it certainly sounds as though that's the plan if he gets the requisite minutes with Liverpool.
Those do feel like a guarantee at this stage, though. Ngumoha will battle with Cody Gakpo for appearances on the left flank, though we do think the Dutchman will play centrally quite often to make up for Hugo Ekitike's absence.
So everything is set for Nguomoha to get what he needs - and what England are looking for. This could well be the season that sees him fully announce himself to the world.
Tuchel is certainly hoping so.
