It's expected that an international striker will sign his Liverpool contract imminently.

Liverpool confirmed their retained list this week, and there were of course some notable absences. Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson departed the club, as did Ibrahima Konate.

We also saw some high-profile youngsters leave, such as Oakley Cannonier. Cannonier was once heralded as the next-big-thing coming out of Liverpool’s academy but a series of injuries robbed him of opportunities to progress.

There is one particularly interesting name there, too. Keyrol Figueroa has been offered a new contract by Liverpool, despite some incredibly strong reports linking him with a move away from Anfield.

Figueroa has never actually played for Liverpool’s first team but his reputation has grown regardless. Enough so that he made his international debut for Honduras this month, despite never appearing in a senior game prior.

His lack of football for the Reds won’t put him off signing a new contract, however. Deportes TVC claim that Figueroa is expected to sign his deal shortly in what’s a massive win for Liverpool.

Figueroa is a real talent, even if he hasn’t been allowed to show it at senior level just yet. Liverpool can expect a decent fee for him down the line at the very least, but there is still the potential for him to break into the first-team setup.

A massive summer for him, then.

Keyrol Figueroa: Situation Summary

Career Status and International Breakthrough

As of 11 June 2026, Keyrol Figueroa remains a player for the Liverpool Under-21 squad. The 19-year-old striker, son of former Honduran international Maynor Figueroa, enjoyed a productive 2025/26 season, recording 12 goals in 15 Premier League 2 appearances. He recently achieved a significant milestone by committing his international future to Honduras, with FIFA approving his switch of allegiance from the United States in mid-May 2026. On 6 June 2026, he made his senior international debut for Honduras, appearing as a second-half substitute in a 2–0 friendly defeat against Argentina. He is the first Liverpool player ever to represent the Honduran national team.

Contract Situation

Figueroa’s current contract at Anfield is scheduled to expire on 30 June 2026. While reports indicate that the club has been in negotiations with the forward regarding an extension to continue his development at the Academy, no official confirmation of a new deal has been made. With his current terms nearing their conclusion, his future remains a point of focus as the club manages its end-of-season retained lists and squad planning.
