Bombshell: Fabrizio Romano confirms €170m Liverpool talks
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed it. Liverpool are in talks for a deal that could cost €170m.
Liverpool are yet to make a major splash in this transfer window but it appears they could be near one. Fabrizio Romano has moved to confirm talks between the Reds and Paris Saint-Germain.
The player in question? You've guessed it: Bradley Barcola. The Frenchman has emerged as Liverpool's no.1 transfer target after they failed to convince Yan Diomande over a move.
Anfield Watch exclusively revealed back in April that Barcola was viewed as a market opportunity. It now seems it's an opportunity they want to take as the forward will not renew his contract at PSG.
Santi Aouna reports that Liverpool have held talks with the European champions about a transfer - and now Romano has confirmed that, too.
"Liverpool have been leading the race for Bradley Barcola since April — and they are working on the deal," he writes on Twitter.
"Understand Barcola’s open to the move and gives priority to Liverpool project if they can get a deal done with PSG.
"Liverpool, waiting for PSG indications on price/details."
But here's the catch: price. The BBC's Nizaar Kinsella reports that PSG are chasing €170m (£140m) for Barcola after witnessing what other players have moved for this summer.
And that, quite frankly, is absolutely absurd money. It remains to be seen if Liverpool are actually considering the move with that price tag in mind but the next few days should make it clear.
This promises to be the biggest story of the Reds' summer either way. And potentially a record-breaking one.
