Liverpool are waiting with bated breath on Arsenal to strike an agreement. It could send a €130m star to Anfield.

Liverpool need to find a star winger after Mohamed Salah’s exit. There’s just no way around that and Victor Munoz, as promising as he may be, isn’t going to be enough to rectify the Reds’ problems.

They were short on production from wide areas last season anyway - now their most productive winger has left. At the very least, it will take two signings.

Liverpool are aware of this, though. They tried to sign Yan Diomande after bringing Munoz in, only for the Ivorian to reject them in favour of Paris Saint-Germain.

He’ll now wait out his time with RB Leipzig in an effort to get his move to Paris next summer. Liverpool, on the other hand, need to find someone for the here and now.

Bradley Barcola appears to be their ‘top’ target. Or at least, the most ‘win now’ target as a France international who could make an immediate impact.

Anfield Watch first reported on the interest in Barcola back in April. It certainly still stands. He’d likely cost around €130m at this stage and Arsenal also hold an interest, making this a two-way fight.

However, it also seems that Arsenal are bowing out of the race. They’re going to push through a deal for Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge - the standout star from Belgium’s Pro League.

The Guardian say that a £34m deal is ready to go and should be closed this week. In doing so, Arsenal would replace Leandro Trossard and eliminate any great need to also spend a fortune on Barcola, especially when they’re also wanting both Ezri Konsa and Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa.

This Tzolis deal should confirm Liverpool as the most-likely team to sign Barcola. In fact, they may be the only team pushing to sign the Frenchman, putting them in an incredible position to sign him.

Enough so that the Tzolis deal may just about confirm he joins Liverpool. PSG do want to sell Barcola, despite what they’re saying publicly, as their winger situation is getting a little out of control.

A deal for Maghnes Akliouche is on the brink of going through, while they’ll want to guarantee more minutes for Desire Doue, as well as prepare the squad for Diomande. Liverpool, then, have a golden opportunity to land Barcola - if Arsenal do indeed sign Tzolis as expected.
