Liverpool get answer in deal for dream £127m forward
Liverpool have lost Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian King has left the club after reaching an agreement to rip up his £400k per week contract one year early.
The 34-year-old’s departure means Andoni Iraola has got a gaping hole to fill on the right side of the outgoing Premier League champions’ attack.
Federico Chiesa can play in that position but is not expected to hang around long-term while £29.5m Jeremie Frimpong has been inconsistent.
Barcola leads Liverpool's wishlist
Therefore the Anfield club need a starting right-sided attacker. Their requirements have already brought them to the door of RB Leipzig for Yan Diomande - but hopes of signing the 19-year-old have been extinguished.
Diomande, 19, was the subject of a €100m transfer offer from Richard Hughes - which was swiftly knocked back by the Bundesliga side.
An alternative plan looks to have been cooked up by decision-makers inside Anfield for the Paris Saint-Germain attacker Bradley Barcola.
The 23-year-old remains under contract at PSG until 2028 but has been linked with an exit this summer.
Barcola listed at £127m
French international Barcola has slipped behind others - such as Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue for a starting role under Luis Enrique.
In order to achieve the first-team football he believes he deserves he may well have to consider a change of scenery.
A deal has been mooted at around £127m (€150m) - with Arsenal also interested and that would represent a very steep asking price for a winger of Barcola’s qualities.
Bradley Barcola 'off-limits'
But a report in talkSPORT suggests that even that might not be enough to convince PSG - with Barcola described as “off-limits” during the summer transfer window.
“PSG’s Bradley Barcola is their dream target, but the message coming out of the French capital is that he is very much off limits,” the report reads.
In fact the two-time European champions would love to tie Barcola down to a new deal instead of losing him but are probably going to have to offer him significant improvements in both salary and game time.
Liverpool under Andoni Iraola are crying out for more one-v-one quality out wide - with Barcola at the top of their wishlist.
Now however it looks likely that the Merseysiders will have to move down their list of targets with others such as Matias Fernandez-Pardo, Yankuba Minteh and Said El Mala all linked.
