Announcement imminent: Liverpool star already named in UEFA squad
Liverpool have seen one player already named in his new club's UEFA squad. An announcement about a deal looks imminent.
Things have been slow at Liverpool but we do expect that things will kick into gear any minute now. The World Cup is over and the dominoes will start to fall - and that should see incomings and outgoings at Anfield.
Some of those outgoings have been strongly hinted at, too. Liverpool are currently in the USA on their pre-season tour and the group named for the trip was particularly interesting.
One glaring absence is Amara Nallo. The centre-back has been on the fringes of Liverpool’s first-team for years now, and that did earn him a few appearances for the Reds.
Notably, two of those ended with red cards - and similar dismissals at that. But there’s no question that Nallo is a great talent and one who can make it in the game.
It seems that he won’t be given the chance to impress Andoni Iraola this summer, however, and instead the plan has always looked likely to be a loan. That’s now all but confirmed.
Finnish journalist Eetu Ikola reports that HJK are closing in on a loan for Nallo. What really gives the game away, though, is that the defender is actually named in their squad for the UEFA Conference League.
It’s difficult to get a bigger sign than that, outside of him holding a scarf at a training ground. Nallo, then, will spend some time in Finland with HJK.
Though, the Finnish season ends in October, so this certainly won’t be a season-long loan. Instead, Nallo will return to Liverpool later this year and we imagine move somewhere in January - either permanently or on another loan.
This is always a difficult period for a player as he won’t actually know where his long-term future lies. Hopefully, he can enjoy a strong spell with HJK and kick on from there.
