Liverpool's attack has been one of their best assets over the last couple of years.

But, now that Mohamed Salah has left and Hugo Ekitike is out injured until at least January, they're in desperate need of reinforcement.

Of course, Victor Munoz has already been brought in as an option for Liverpool to use but, with how reliant the Reds have been on Salah over the last couple of years, at least another one or two players need to be signed.

That's why it isn't a surprise to see several names being brought up as potential options for Liverpool to explore this summer.

And now, one of their best deals of the window could be on the horizon.

Liverpool want to sign Sergio Arribas

Not only did most of Liverpool's attack let them down last season but, the vast majority of their midfield did too.

Florian Wirtz flopped with Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister not much better either.

In fact, most of Liverpool's team underperformed which is why they finished fifth in the Premier League.

So, with all of this in mind, it's hardly surprising to see yet another versatile forward being added to Liverpool's radar.

That is, if an update from Spanish outlet IDEAL is to be believed.

"The transfer market continues to attract suitors for Sergio Arribas.

"After many weeks in which Sporting Lisbon has been identified as one of the clubs closely monitoring the UD Almería player, Liverpool now appears to have joined the race to secure his services.

"According to the latest reports, the English club has set its sights on the Madrid-born attacker after his outstanding season with the Almería side.

"[This was] a campaign that has established him as one of the most sought-after players in the Segunda División and one of the best opportunities on the market, with 26 goals and seven assists in 46 appearances this season.

"Liverpool is the latest to join the list of suitors. The Anfield club's sporting directors continue to scour the market for young players with room for growth and the ability to make a difference in attack, a profile that perfectly fits Arribas.

"Although no formal offer has yet been made public, the English club's interest adds another top-level player to a deal that could become one of the most important of the summer for the Rojiblancos."

Sergio Arribas could be one of Liverpool's smartest signings in recent memory

After Liverpool added Munoz to their ranks, it felt like the Anfield outfit were going back to the old days when they used to find unheard of gems, bring them in for £35 million and develop them into some of the world's best players.

Indeed, they may have had to hijack Newcastle's deal for the attacker but, it feels like he could be an exceptional addition to the squad.

A deal for Arribas feels similar in that way. He's a rather unheard of player who's managed to contribute to 33 goals across all competitions during the 2025-26 season.

Indeed, the vast majority of them did come in La Liga 2 but, contributing to that many goals in one season, no matter the quality of the league, is fairly impressive.

Naturally, the Spaniard is a number 10 but, he has been known to play on the right and on the left.

It would obviously be a big step up for the 24-year-old to go from Almeria to Liverpool but, if the Reds can secure his transfer for a decent fee, it feels like it would be a worthwhile risk.

There's obviously loads of time before the window slams shut but, for now at least, a deal for Arribas is certainly one to keep an eye on.
