Andoni Iraola told Liverpool will have to pay €35m for midfield maestro

Liverpool's midfield is arguably their main problem area at the moment.

The Reds brought in two attackers and two defenders during the summer transfer window and, despite them losing Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott, no midfielders were signed.

Of course, many were linked with a potential Liverpool move but, since they had their eyes set on other targets, that never came to fruition.

Lamine Camara, Manu Kone and Khephren Thuram are just a few players who were linked with an Anfield switch and, since none of them joined other clubs, they're still all available for Liverpool to sign if they wish to do so.

However, with many other clubs across the world also wanting to sign these players, Liverpool are going to have to cast their net far and wide to try and get a new midfielder in.

So, these latest links to emerge make a lot of sense.

Liverpool will have to spend €35 million if they want to sign Cher Ndour

As mentioned, Liverpool's midfield is a bit of a problem area for them.

Even though Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai have just signed new deals to extend their stays with Liverpool, it's been made more than clear that the duo can't be used as a double pivot by Andoni Iraola.

The Spaniard's system requires at least one midfielder to stay back with it also needing their midfielder to win the vast majority of their duels.

However, since Gravenberch and Szoboszlai both want to attack and neither are that good at winning duels, they just don't work well together.

So, with this in mind, it's hardly surprising to see Liverpool linked with Fiorentina's Cher Ndour.

The Fiorentina midfielder has been in decent form for the Serie A outfit over the last few years and now, thanks to an update from Caught Offside, Liverpool have been told how much they'd need to pay for the Italian.

" Fiorentina are understood to value Ndour at around €30 million to €35 million, although it remains to be seen whether any club will meet their demands," they wrote.

"Liverpool will need to assess whether the midfielder fits their long-term plans before deciding whether to make a formal approach.

"Ndour has plenty of time to keep developing his game, and a move to the Premier League could offer an exciting new challenge. However, Fiorentina’s stance and competition from other interested clubs could complicate any potential deal.

"It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will step up their interest in the coming months. The Reds will be hoping to secure the right midfield additions as they continue building for the future.

Cher Ndour would be a perfect addition for Liverpool

Alexis Mac Allister and Trey Nyoni performed much better than anyone expected them to on Tuesday.

Liverpool were facing Tottenham in the Carabao Cup and, even though things looked a little ropey from time to time, the double pivot of Mac Allister and Nyoni helped solidify Liverpool's starting XI.

Each of them managed to work alongside one another extremely well and, even though Szoboszlai was brought on to put the game to bed, it felt like the aforementioned duo were the better options for Liverpool.

But, if someone such as Ndour was brought in, Iraola's squad would be even stronger.

Last season, the central-midfielder featured in 47 games for Fiorentina and contributed to 10 goals.

His main position was as a number eight, but, there were a handful of games where he was used further back.

He may not be the number six that Liverpool desperately need but, thanks to the way that he carries himself and the positions he gets himself into throughout games, he would be an exceptional purchase for Liverpool, especially for €35 million.
