Liverpool want deal for £30m Italian midfield sensation

Liverpool are eyeing potential midfield upgrades.

The Reds declined to add a new midfield option in the summer transfer window. Money was instead spent elsewhere - leaving Andoni Iraola relying on the same cast of characters in the middle third.

The Basque tactico has been searching for the right formula with Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai sharing duties in the middle.

Now it’s emerged that a promising young Italian international is very much on the radar - with Caught Offside claiming the Merseysiders alongside Aston Villa as well as Inter Milan and Juventus are tracking Fiorentina star Cher Ndour.

The former Paris Saint-Germain player has recently broken into the international picture - and is expected to lead the rebuild of the Azzurri in the coming years.

He had spells at Brescia, Atalanta and Benfica in his younger days before joining PSG and enjoying loans at Braga and Besiktas. It was in 2025 that he finally put down his roots with La Viola - earning rave reviews since then.

Fiorentina want €30m to €35m (£26m to £30m) for Ndour

“Liverpool are seeking a long-term, athletic profile to strengthen their midfield rotation,” the report reads.

“Liverpool and Villa value his athleticism for high-tempo systems, while Inter and Juventus see him as a tall, technically gifted local talent suited to Serie A dynamics.

“While his market value is estimated at €20M, Fiorentina are said to demand €30–35M.”

Cher Ndour: Situation summary

Cher Ndour is a 22-year-old, 1.90m Italian midfielder, born in Brescia and eligible for Senegal through his family. A PSG academy graduate who also had loans at Braga and Beşiktaş, he joined Fiorentina permanently in February 2025 for around €5m.

A tall, athletic and technically clean central midfielder, Ndour can operate as a No. 8, deeper controller or advanced midfield option. He offers ball-carrying power, passing range and defensive coverage, although his final-third output and consistency remain areas for development.

Ndour is under contract at Fiorentina until June 2029, giving the club a strong negotiating position and leaving no immediate renewal pressure.

He has started the 2026–27 season in the rotation, with regular early-season minutes suggesting Fiorentina view him as a developing first-team asset rather than a player being actively marketed. No concrete exit appears imminent.
