Andoni Iraola could now sign surprise winger instead of Bradley Barcola
Mohamed Salah still hasn't been replaced at Liverpool.
Even though the Egyptian King only contributed to 22-goals across all competitions last season, he was still one of Arne Slot's most creative players.
When Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike were brought in, everyone knew that Salah's role would change but, nobody expected his performances to plummet as quickly as they did.
Despite this, he was still the best right-winger at the club and, now that Liverpool have only got Federico Chiesa and Jeremie Frimpong who can play there, a new right-winger is essential for the Reds.
They need to add a lot more firepower to their ranks this summer, especially if they want to challenge for the title.
Several players have already been linked with a Liverpool switch but, only one or two of them can actually play on the right.
And, while Yankuba Minteh is one of them, Andoni Iraola now has another winger in his sights who could be the answer to all their problems.
Christian Pulisic is on Liverpool's radar as a potential option
It goes without saying that Salah is one of the best-ever right-wingers to grace the Premier League.
His performances have often single-handedly carried Liverpool to three points and, their 2024-25 title win simply wouldn't have been possible without him among their ranks.
Salah contributed to over 50 goals during that campaign and, the fact he's managed less than half of that this time around is a bit of a shock.
But, now that he's gone, Liverpool need to focus on what's next and, as per an update from TEAMtalk at the end of June, the L4 outfit now have Christian Pulisic in their sights as a potential option to replace Salah.
"Indeed, while Barcola is the club’s new priority target, club sources insist that extensive work has already been carried out on several alternatives should a move for the 23-times capped France star prove difficult," they wrote.
"Among those discussed are Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh, Cologne wonderkid Said El Mala, AC Milan’s Christian Pulisic, Hoffenheim’s Bazoumana Traore and Lille attacker Matias Fernandez-Pardo.
"Liverpool believe they have a number of high-quality alternatives after missing out on Diomande."
Christian Pulisic would be an interesting transfer for Liverpool
Pulisic may have only got one assist during the 2026 World Cup before the United States of America were knocked out of their own tournament but, from the games he played, he looked like a solid winger.
He is 27 years old and, while this is a tad older than the Reds' usual targets, his vast amount of experience could be of use to Liverpool.
During the 2025-26 season, his versatility shone through as he played all across the front three as well as a number 10.
Pulisic played 34 games across all competitions and contributed to 14 goals during that time.
The report from TEAMtalk doesn't state how much the Serie A outfit would want for him but other outlets have suggested that a fee worth around €60 million (£51.2 million) would be enough to acquire his services.
Of course, Rafael Leao could be another option at AC Milan for Liverpool to explore but, since Pulisic is a natural right-winger, Liverpool striking a deal for him makes a lot more sense.
Pulisic's previous Premier League stint didn't exactly go as planned but, now that he's more experienced and has a bit more know-how, he could become a key part of Iraola's plans if he's brought in this summer.
