African winger confirms he's ready to join Liverpool
One African winger confirmed he's ready to join Liverpool.
Last season brought about the closing of an extraordinary chapter for Liverpool as Mohamed Salah waved his goodbye to Anfield.
Few players have left such an indelible mark on the club, with Salah spending almost a decade as Liverpool's attacking talisman and consistently delivering on the biggest stage.
Year after year, he combined remarkable goalscoring numbers with relentless consistency, all while carrying the weight of being Liverpool's biggest star. Injuries rarely slowed him down, and whether the Reds were challenging for major trophies or rebuilding, Salah remained the player they could always rely upon to make the difference.
His contributions helped restore Liverpool to the summit of English and European football, playing a central role in one of the most successful periods in the club's modern history. Players capable of sustaining that level for so long are incredibly rare, making the task of replacing him almost impossible.
That challenge now falls to sporting director Richard Hughes and Liverpool's recruitment team.
There is no like-for-like replacement for Salah, meaning the club will likely need to rethink its attack through multiple signings and a different tactical approach.
Liverpool may never find another player quite like him, but ensuring the team remains competitive in the post-Salah era will be one of the biggest tests Hughes has faced since arriving at Anfield.
The big target was Yan Diomande. Liverpool have unfortunately failed to secure his services. Diomande has chosen to represent Paris Saint Germain and one could hardly blame the Ivorian.
PSG are back-to-back Champions League winners and play the most extraordinary attacking football.
Any attacker would want to be part of what Luis Enrique's building with the French giants.
At the same time though, it leaves Liverpool very much scrambling for options. Diomande wasn't a like-for-like replacement for Salah but he was the best available right-winger on the market.
His one vs one ability and the aura he has means he has special potential. Diomande could become one of the best attackers in the world.
Liverpool are now having to feed of the scraps that are left, and they don't particularly make for an enticing feast. Bradley Barcola is the obvious solution, but he prefers to play on the left-wing, where Liverpool already have Rio Ngumoha and Cody Gakpo.
The Reds could bring in Yankuba Minteh and he's probably the perfect choice on paper. However, Brighton might be demanding a huge fee for him.
Instead, Liverpool could also look at an alternative who could be a lot cheaper.
Every Liverpool fan tuned into Egypt vs Argentina either to watch Salah or the great player that is Lionel Messi.
However, every fan, or lover of the game came back thinking about only one player.
Haissem Hassan.
The 24-year-old Egyptian played on the right-wing for the African side and absolutely terrorised Argentina's defence. Hassan showed the speed and one vs one ability that Liverpool have lacked and that Andoni Iraola needs in order to make his team tick.
All together Hassan completed four out of six dribble attempts and won seven of his 11 ground duels. He was just brilliant and so effective with his ball carrying.
Sure, he may still be raw but this performance confirmed he's ready to make it on the big stage, and he's ready to join a club like Liverpool.
Some players are just born for the spotlight and Hassan looked to be exactly that. He showed he can cause problems for even some of the best defences on the planet.
Given the fact that his team Real Oviedo were relegated from La Liga, he's likely going to be available on the cheap and Liverpool should be all over him.
The Egyptian prince replacing the Egyptian King doesn't sound like a bad idea.
