Liverpool have spent big to improve their attack over the last two years, but they are still a man short.

Injuries to Hugo Ekitike, Federico Chiesa, Cody Gakpo and Alexander Isak have left the Reds short up front this season, with the likes of Lewis Koumas getting many more minutes than people expected.

Andoni Iraola’s side boasts some of the top attacking talent in the Premier League, but they are probably still missing one more attacker to add some much-needed depth.

A squad player that could cover both wings would be a perfect final addition to Liverpool’s side, and the most recent round of Champions League matches highlighted the perfect candidate.

Liverpool need to move for Abde Ezzalzouli

Abde Ezzalzouli, who wears Ez Abde on the back of his shirt for Real Betis, is a name that many supporters won’t be familiar with, but the Moroccan international is quietly becoming one of the best forwards in Europe.

The 24-year-old is capable of playing on either wing and scored one of the best goals of the round in match week two of the Champions League.

Playing off the left for Betis, Abde has asserted himself as one of the top wingers outside of the big three clubs in Spain, and the Moroccan is sure to get a move to a top side in the near future.

Valued at just €26.3 million (~£22m) by Football Transfers, Abde represents a high-value low-risk target for Liverpool in the winter.

Everton and Newcastle were both interested in the summer but a deal couldn’t be done with Betis, who were holding out for Abde’s €60 million (~£50m) release clause to be met.

Known for his excellent finishing, strong aerial ability and his defensive efforts, Abde would be the perfect addition to Iraola’s squad, and Liverpool could look to agree a deal for somewhere between Football Transfers’ valuation and the release clause.

The goal against Porto was just a glimpse of what Abde can produce, and Julian Ward should take note ahead of the winter window.
