Liverpool are one of the Premier League's most-linked teams with new transfers at the moment.

There are several areas among their squad that could still do with upgrading before the 2026-27 season gets fully underway.

In fact, almost every area of Andoni Iraola's team, apart from his goalkeepers, could do with a new player or two being added to them.

That is, especially if the Anfield outfit want to start challenging for silverware again.

Of course, Iraola's appointment will give the club a new lease of life but, if the players don't manage to get on board with his playing style quickly, they could end up in an even worse position than they were in during the 2025-26 season.

Which is why it'll be music to the Reds' ears that one of their potential targets now wants to leave his current club.

Djed Spence wants to exit Tottenham this summer

Last week, Anfield Watch exclusively revealed that Liverpool had been eyeing a move for Djed Spence since 2023.

The Englishman caught Liverpool's eye while they were on a scouting mission for Desire Doue and, since then, they've been monitoring the Englishman's situation.

And, since Spurs have just signed Andy Robertson and have given Ben Davies and Pedro Porro new contracts, it feels like there's a real possibility that the full-back could leave N17 this summer.

He was arguably one of England's best players at the 2026 World Cup with his last-ditch tackle on Giuliano Simeone one of the highlights of his tournament.

And, thanks to these performances, he's got onto the radar of many clubs from across the world with La Gazzetta dello Sport now sharing that the 25-year-old wants to pack his bags and leave Roberto de Zerbi's team.

"Tottenham value him at no less than €35 million," they wrote.

"Tottenham have not tied the player down; quite the opposite. And he is ready to leave London, as he is blocked at Spurs by Pedro Porro, the Spaniard who renewed his contract with Tottenham just a month ago until 2031."

Liverpool would be in dreamland if they managed to sign Djed Spence this summer

Even though most of Liverpool's team underperformed last season, their defence feels like the area that needs upgrading the most.

Virgil van Dijk is 35 years old and, since Ibrahima Konate and Robertson have both exited, the Reds are a little bit light at the back.

Indeed, Giovanni Leoni and Jeremy Jacquet will be able to help cover the centre of Liverpool's defence but, with how injury prone Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong were last season, the Reds' right-back still feels like a huge area of weakness.

And, since Spence's natural position is on the right, he'd be able to fit straight into Liverpool's first-team squad if needed.

But, his versatility could also be of use to the Reds as, even though he's a natural right-back, he can play equally as well when used on the left.

Spence's versatility, coupled with his price tag make the Englishman a rather interesting option for Liverpool and one that they should explore if they have the funds to do so.
