Andoni Iraola has reportedly confirmed to one Liverpool star that he will be starting under him. Exactly what we hoped for.

Andoni Iraola has some major decisions to make. The Spaniard is now underway as Liverpool's new head coach and the coming weeks will say him assess his playing squad.

However, the World Cup makes things difficult. A large chunk of the first-XI aren't actually with the group and won't be for a little while yet.

On top of that, Liverpool have lost Ibrahima Konate and Mohamed Salah - two players who almost certainly would have started for Iraola. They haven't been adequately replaced, either.

And so Iraola will struggle to make definitive decisions on who starts across the XI. Though, he's apparently made at least one.

Talksport reports that Alisson Becker now knows that he'll be the starting goalkeeper next season. This comes with the caveat of 'if he's still at the club', as Saudi Pro League sides are eager to sign him this summer.

But if the Brazilian wishes to stick around, the spot between the sticks is his. That will come as a blow to Giorgi Mamardashvili, who certainly hoped to be Liverpool's starting goalkeeper by now.

This will be his third season since signing for Liverpool, though Mamardashvili did spend the first campaign on loan at Valencia. He lost most of last season behind Alisson and it appears he's set to do so again this term.

Though, this is how we hoped things would be. Alisson remains one of the absolute best goalkeepers on the planet and only his injury record holds him back.

Still, there is no better option to be the first-choice goalkeeper at Anfield, neither from within nor as a signing. Keeping Alisson and signing him feels like a no-brainer, honestly.

Iraola appears to feel the same way.
