Fabrizio Romano confirms agreement for dream Yankuba Minteh deal

Liverpool are locked in talks with Brighton over a deal for Yankuba Minteh.

The Reds saw an initial offer worth £50m rejected last week for the 22-year-old - who is currently out injured and not expected to feature until October or November.

That first bid was followed up by Richard Hughes with another worth £60m just 24 hours later - which again the Seagulls threw in the bin.

Discussions will continue for the left-footed Gambian star - and an agreement between the clubs could be in sight for around £70m.

Liverpool chasing agreement for Minteh with Brighton

Signing Minteh would be a welcome development for the Anfield side - who have been without a legitimate right-wing option since the departure of Mohamed Salah.

Minteh has been on the radar for quite some time - with the winger excelling on loan at Feyenoord under Arne Slot in 2023/24.

A move to Brighton from Newcastle subsequently followed for Minteh - who the injury notwithstanding looks set for a move to the next level.

Fabrizio Romano confirms deal reached with Minteh

Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that Minteh has agreed terms on a “dream” move to Liverpool.

“Minteh already agreed personal terms with Liverpool, he wants the move, he dreams of joining Liverpool after some African players did great there – from Mo Salah to his idol Sadio Mane,” the Italian transfer supremo tells Caught Offside.

Romano maintains that club-to-club discussions must still be brought to fruition.

Liverpool also want deal for Bradley Barcola

With a declared asking price however we can safely assume that a deal for Minteh to join Liverpool surely isn’t far away.

Other deals remain live for forward options - most significantly Bradley Barcola. The Paris Saint-Germain winger - out of contract in 2028 - isn’t currently part of the first-team picture in the French capital as clarity is sought over his future.

A deal was originally mooted at the £145m mark but an agreement for Barcola could be in sight for around £120m per the latest reports.
