Yan Diomande to Liverpool looks on: Fabrizio Romano drops bombshell news
Liverpool appear to have just moved closer to sign Yan Diomande. That comes after a bombshell Fabrizio Romano update.
It's no secret that Liverpool want to sign Yan Diomande. The Mail is among those reporting that a €100m bid went in for the player, though it was rejected by RB Leipzig.
One suggestion for that rejection is that Leipzig hope Paris Saint-Germain, the other great rival for Diomande, enter the race with an offer. Doing so would naturally drive the price higher.
However, it now appears that won't happen. Fabrizio Romano reports that PSG now lead the race for Maghnes Akliouche from AS Monaco and that bids should go in shortly.
This would be massive for Liverpool as Akliouche is another right-winger and it's incredibly unlikely that PSG would sign him and move for Diomande. In fact, we can't imagine Diomande would even choose to go to a club that just bought a talented young player in his position.
It's a major advantage for Liverpool, then, and a major blow for Leipzig, who almost certainly won't get their wish of a bidding war. We find it difficult to believe that they'd reject another offer in the €100m range if they know it's all they can get, quite honestly.
So this might really be it. This could be the news that Liverpool were waiting for - the revelation that it's now a one-horse race for Diomande and they simply need to get Leipzig to accept that.
It would be one of the biggest signings in Liverpool's history, not just financially but in profile. There's no question that Diomande is one of the biggest talents in world football and someone that every club in the game would want.
if he truly does end up at Anfield, the Reds can consider it one hell of a coup.
