World class manager confirms he's the perfect choice to replace Arne Slot
Arne Slot's future at Liverpool is all over, there is no going back for him now.
Whether admired or criticised, the Dutchman’s time at Anfield will always be tied to a historic achievement.
Winning the Premier League in his first season is no small feat. While it is fair to acknowledge that he inherited a strong foundation built by Jurgen Klopp, he also implemented key adjustments that played a meaningful role in guiding Liverpool to the title.
However, that success cannot excuse what has followed. This season, the responsibility for Liverpool’s struggles rests firmly on his shoulders, and it is becoming increasingly clear that he is out of his depth.
Since lifting the Premier League trophy, Liverpool have endured one of the poorest runs in the club’s recent history. Results have declined sharply, performances have lacked consistency, and the team has struggled to maintain any real momentum.
The numbers only reinforce that concern. In 2025, he managed to win fewer than half of his matches, and the situation has worsened further in 2026. Liverpool have recorded just 10 victories in their last 21 games, a return that falls well below the standards expected at the club.
Even more alarming is their league form. After starting the season with five consecutive wins, Liverpool have managed just 10 victories in their following 27 Premier League matches.
For a club of Liverpool’s stature, that level of performance is simply unacceptable, and it increasingly feels like there is no clear path back from this decline.
It's only thanks to the decline of Manchester United and Chelsea that Liverpool are still in a position where they can salvage the season.
Long-term the club needs change and that change has to be appointing a world-class manager who truly understands what it takes to reach an elite level and work with world-class players.
Slot doesn't grasp this.
But Luis Enrique does. His achievements speak for themselves. He's turned PSG into a team of primadonas and egotistic superstars and made them the best team in Europe.
All throughout it, Enrique has been regularly promoting talented young players like Senny Mayulu, Desire Doue and Warren Zaire-Emery, while improving every player in his squad.
Now there are murmurs Enrique is considering his future in Paris after this season and that he is looking for a new project.
Well, what better project could there be than Liverpool right now?
And it's a project that seems to be close to Enrique's heart. In his recent press conference leading up to the clash between Liverpool and PSG, Enrique revealed that he once went to watch a game from the Kop at Anfield as a fan.
“Nice question. How do you know that?” Enrique said.
“I don’t remember the match but it was nice, I wanted to live as a supporter one of the best stadiums in the world, Anfield. And I enjoyed it a lot, it was different.
“I got the tickets because Luis Garcia was playing here and he gave me the tickets. It was very nice, very special, very different to what I live in the past as a player. I enjoyed it a lot.”
Those comments, the fact that he's spent time in the Kop confirms that Enrique is the perfect choice for Liverpool. He is a world-class manager and he clearly has a strong love and affection towards Anfield and the club's fans, too.
