Video: Steve Nicol weighs in on Felipe's tackle on Sadio Mane

Atletico Madrid defender Felipe was sent off against Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday night.

The 32-year-old tackled Reds forward Sadio Mane from behind on the halfway line.

Felipe was shown a straight red card as a result. Former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol believes that the centre-back deserved to see red despite where the tackle took place out on the pitch.

All we will say is that Felipe made no attempt to win the ball. Therefore, we believe that red cards should be awarded for similar incidents.

Far too often do we see players get away with cynical fouls. Liverpool went on to win the aforementioned Champions League group stage fixture 2-0.
