Video - Kostas Tsimikas enjoying Liverpool's FA Cup victory over Man City
Just under a week ago, Liverpool defeated Manchester City 3-2 at Wembley Stadium to progress to the FA Cup final.
Reds left-back Kostas Tsimikas did not feature against the Citizens.
Andy Robertson, Jurgen Klopp's first-choice left-back, was given the opportunity to play against Manchester City.
However, as you can see in the footage here, Tsimikas still enjoyed the result from the bench.
Anfield Watch Verdict
Liverpool signed Tsimikas from Olympiacos for a transfer fee of £11.70 million back in the summer of 2020.
The left-back was very much brought in as cover for Robertson. However, Tsimikas hardly played for Liverpool during his first season at the club.
The 25-year-old only made seven appearances for the Reds' first-team last campaign.
Injuries and illness interfered with Tsimikas' debut Liverpool season, which meant that he could not adapt to a new league/lifestyle. But, that has not been the case this campaign.
Tsimikas has been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 7.11 across the 2021-22 season (21 appearances).
Jurgen Klopp implied back in November 2021 that we should not be surprised that the left-back has played well in recent times.
"Kostas has a lot of quality – he can push Andy Robertson, but Andy Robertson in my eyes is the best left-back in the world but it’s good we have the options to give Robbo a rest in moments – even when he doesn’t like it.
"Kostas needed time to adapt but he has done that now and we have to let him run free sometimes! Especially when you have the quality such as Kostas."
Despite the fact that Tsimikas did not feature against Manchester City last weekend, he was still as pumped as anyone about the result.
The man clearly puts the club ahead of himself, which we absolutely love.
