Richard Hughes left in limbo after Euro giants side-line deal for 25 y/o Liverpool star

Liverpool need to get a bit busier than they currently are this summer.

Almost every area of their squad could do with a new player being added to it but, without getting rid of some of their own players, they won't be able to afford to do this.

Of course, if they didn't spend over £450 million last summer, they'd be in a much better place but, they unfortunately did so now they have to pay the price and get rid of even more members of their squad.

Several players have already been linked with an exit but, for one Liverpool star, his future seems to have gotten a little bit more cloudy.

Inter Milan have chosen to side-line their move for Curtis Jones

Before Arne Slot was relieved of his duties, it felt like Curtis Jones already had one foot out of the Anfield doors.

The Englishman was hardly used by the Dutchmen last term and, when he was, he was used out of position in right-back.

And, while the 25-year-old did well as a full-back, it's clear that he's much more effective when used as a midfielder so, it wasn't a surprise to see him linked with a move away from Anfield.

Inter Milan tried to sign Jones in January but, since Liverpool needed him, they refused to let him go with the Serie A outfit hoping to make another move for him this summer.

In the end, they did just that but, since their bid was miles away from Liverpool's valuation, they flat-out rejected it which has led to a bit of a stalemate between the two parties.

And now, a fresh update from La Gazzetta dello Sport has shared what Inter are now planning to do about their interest in Jones.

"Curtis Jones is becoming more relevant than ever," they wrote.

"The Englishman was a target for the club in January and returned to that role immediately after the season, but then other transfer market situations requiring immediate intervention have pushed him somewhat to the sidelines.

"Parked to one side, certainly not abandoned, quite the opposite. The first choice in the middle is still the 25-year-old Liverpool player."

Liverpool need to figure out their plans for Curtis Jones as soon as possible

When looking at the way Curtis Jones played for Liverpool compared to some of his teammates last season, it's crazy to think that Richard Hughes and Andoni Iraola are still considering moving him on.

The 25-year-old is the only scouser left in the team now that Trent Alexander-Arnold has exited and, without him, they'll also have one less homegrown player to rely on.

Homegrown players seem to be a massive issue for most Premier League teams which is probably why Elliott Anderson has just joined Manchester City for £116 million.

But, if the Anfield outfit can't guarantee him a certain amount of playing time, there's no wonder why he wants to leave.

However, for Liverpool, it feels like they can't really afford to lose him, especially since he'd end up being sold for pennies as he's now in the final year of his contract.

If Iraola doesn't want him then that is completely fine but, since Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch left a lot to be desired last term, it feels like they should be the ones out of the door, rather than Jones.

At the end of the day, it's up to Liverpool who they want to keep and who they want to sell but, if they don't figure out what they want to do with Jones soon, they'll end up losing him for nothing and repeating the same mistake they made from the last two years.
