Report: Liverpool's next superstar on brink of signing, they've been told 'yes'

Liverpool have been given the green light. Their perfect midfield signing is right around the corner.

Liverpool unquestionably need to make some sort of midfield move. It feels like they're short on numbers, honestly, especially after Curtis Jones left in the summer without any sort of replacement.

But that's only half of it. The real reason they feel short on numbers is that everyone wants to play the same role - an attacking no.8. Andoni Iraola has taken advantage of the fact Trey Nyoni is still learning the game to convert him into a holding player but make no mistake, that was seen as his role as little as six months ago.

There's very little variety in there, then, and importantly, there's no real controlling player. Liverpool have a group of midfielders who aren't good at winning the ball back, nor can they plug gaps through the middle particularly well.

So isn't it fortunate that the ideal midfielder is ready to join?

Lamine Camara green light

We’re enormous fans of Lamine Camara and his data last season suggested he would soon explode into elite-level form. We think it’s safe to say that’s happened as he’s been a true star of Ligue 1 thus far this campaign.

He’s also a player that Liverpool have wanted to sign. We thought it might happen right at the end of the transfer window but the Reds ultimately couldn’t justify a late move.

What they did do, however, is talk to AS Monaco and Camara’s representatives to open the door to a move in 2027. That’s grown to a good position, it seems, as Football Insider claim that the green light has been given.

They suggest that both Monaco and Camara welcome the offer from Liverpool. It’s as good as a ‘yes’ at this stage - a sign that the Reds have the deal ready to be sealed as long as they put up the kind of money they’ve indicated they will.

It’s important to note that nothing has been agreed, nor has a formal offer been made. Liverpool could ultimately move on from Camara and decide to try someone else as their next midfielder.

But the Senegal star is an option. A strong option. He’s effectively there to be signed should the Reds want him and out suspicion is that they ultimately will do.
